Frequently
Asked Questions
Here are a few questions that are
most commonly asked to the AK9C staff. If you have a question that is
not listed below please feel free to email or call us anytime! We are
always available to answer any questions! Making you & your pet
feel comfortable and rest assured is our #1 concern here at American K9
Country!!!

1.
What
Vaccinations do you require for my dog to board, attend a training
class or daycare?
All
pets entering our facility must
be current on Rabies. All owners are required to provide proof of this
vacination, which is
required by law. Due to the
growing number of dogs
& cats that suffer adverse reactions to the Bordetella
vaccine, here at AK9C, we do not "require" this vaccine, but it is
HIGHLY recommended. If you plan on bringing your pet to any
location that will have a large number of other pets, ie: a petstore,
dogpark, dog show, grooming salon or boarding facility, then your pet's
likelihood of being exposed to pathogens increases. For more
information about the Kennel Cough vaccine (Bordetella) click here.
Both Feline & Canine Distemper are required here at AK9C. For
Dogs, Parvo must be included in this vaccine as well. To be on the safe
side, bring a copy of all your pets' vaccinations when you drop off for
boarding, training or doggie daycare.

2.
How old does my dog have to be to do doggie daycare?
All
dogs entering doggie daycare must be at least 4 months of age. But dogs
of ANY age can board at our facility.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, Check, Mastercard or Visa

4. What hours can I
Drop off/ Pick up my pet?
Although someone is here onsite
24 hours-7 days a week, our office is only open Monday-Friday
7:00a,-6:00pm & Saturday & Sunday 8:00am-5:00pm. If you
cannot pick up your dog during our designated hours, then your
pet will spend the night & may be picked up the next morning.
Note:
Any daycare dog not picked up by 6:00pm shall spend the night &
will incur a night's boarding charge.

5. Do you
feed Daycare dogs?
No, the daycare dogs are not
fed during the course of a the day. More often than not the dogs
are too excited to eat, or if they do eat then will often get an upset
tummy since they gobble their food & then go back to playing. So to
prevent any unintentional upset tummies we do not feed Daycare dogs.

6. Can I
bring my pet's own food for boarding?
Of course, as long as it is in
re-sealable containers each smaller than 5lbs...
The only thing we do not
accept is bowls or glass of anykind.
You may bring anything else
that you feel will make your dog more comfortable for its doggie
vacation.

7. Can I
tour the facility?
YES, you may come for a tour
any time between 8:00am-4:00pm anyday! Monday through Sunday!
No appointments needed. Come
visit our beautiful facility!

8. What age
should I start a training class with my puppy?
We start training as early as 8
weeks of age, but a dog of any age can enter our training classes.
You CAN teach an old dog new
tricks!!

9. How soon
should I book for dog boarding?
As soon as you know when you
will be going away make your reservation. We tend to book for holidays
& school vacations 4-6 months in advance. Weekends in the summer
months tend to book 1-2 months in advance. Any other times, a couple of
weeks to a month in advance should be sufficient.

located within American K9 Country, they have a separate phone number
& name.
