Who’s that guy running around AK9C in the wetsuit?! That’s Nick! The official Ak9C docking diving, swim & agility instructor! Nick ‘s love of dogs started at an early age when he began attending dog shows with his mother & grandmother. Being a third-generation dog-lover, Nick was destined for dog sports following in his mother & grandmother’s footsteps. At the age of 18, Nick began training his first agility dog, Sophie- although she wasn’t the fastest dog- Sophie LOVED the sport and went on to earn FOUR AKC championship titles: Master Agility Champion Two & preferred Agility Champion Two. They continued a long successful agility career while Nick attended Merrimack College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. His passion for animals continued with a 12-year career as a Veterinary Surgical Technician- during which time he got his next agility teammate, a yellow Lab named “Goose”
Goose took agility to the next level for Nick. Teaching him that speed on the agility course was an addiction. Nick & Goose traveled all over the country & world competing in the highly addictive sport of Agility. (See a list of Goose’s Accomplishments below)
In 2016, Nick decided to make dog sports a career by joining the American K9 Country instructor team by teaching countless hours of Agility, Dock Diving & Fast Cat classes as well as private lessons. His up-beat positive teaching style is inspirational to his students, and he takes great pride in his students’ accomplishments both in the agility ring as well as on the dock. Nick is the official AK9C NADD Dock Diving Judge, Chief Agility course builder as well as our Fast Cat Lure operator & instructor. Nick is a crucial part of making this facility what it is today.
Currently Nick not only handles a variety of breeds of dog on the agility field: Lab, Shih Tzu, Collie, Cairn Terrier, Border Collie, English Springer Spaniel, Corgi, but he also teaches our Beginner Agility classes, Dock Diving Classes, Fast Cat Classes as well as Swim lessons here at AK9C.
