Agility is a fast paced dog sport where dog & handler teams negotiate an obstacle course while racing the clock. Agility is designed to test a dog’s willingness to work, fitness, conditioning & teamwork. American K9 Country offers classes in all levels of agility. From the Introduction to Agility all the way up to earning your MACH (Master Agility Championship), American K9 Country has the Agility class for you. All agility classes are taught by instructors that are some of the country’s top winning agility competitors in both AKC, UKI & USDAA Agility. Introduction to Agility:

Class consists of 1 hour a week for 6 weeks, $200
Taught by Nick Carleton 

This class is designed to introduce dog & owner to the agility equipment in a fun & motivational manner. No pressure just FUN!! Allow your dog to try every piece of equipment & see if Agility is for you!

*All dogs attending this class MUST have basic manners. It is strongly recommended that all dogs have gone through the American K9 Country Basic Pet, Canine Good Citizen & Clicker Unleashed Programs.

This course should be taken as a Pre-cursor to the Beginner I class.

Beginner Agility:

Beginner Agility
Class consists of 1 hour a week for 6 weeks,
$200

Classes LIMITED to 7 students

This program combines confidence building and foundation skills taught through positive shaping techniques for a better understanding and a rewarding relationship with your pet. This class is to be taken after the Introduction to Agility class. Dogs & owners will continue to gain confidence on each piece of the equipment and they will begin to learn small courses.

Class Goals:

Tunnels, Flat Work &  Startlines 
Handler Pick-Ups & Cues, Contact Criteria, Tire jump , Table, Tippy Planks, A-Frame with apex at 5’
Dog Walk low at 3’
Very low jumps

Intermediate Agility:

Class consists of 1 hour a week for 6 weeks, $200-255

Classes LIMITED to 7 students

This program combines performance criteria and handling foundation skills through positive shaping games for a better understanding. ***You must have Good Off-Lead Control & Attention skills for this level***

Class Goals:
A-Frame at regulation height with Criteria
Dog Walk at regulation height with criteria
Teeter at regulation height with criteria
Weave Poles – regulation set of 12 poles
Turns
Front, Blind, Rear Crosses
Jumps at near full height
Tire Jump full height
Obstacle Sequences 15+

Advanced Agility:

Class consists of 1 hour a week for 6 weeks, $200-255

Classes LIMITED to 7 students

This program combines performance criteria, handling skills and sequence problem solving through positive shaping techniques for a better understanding. Dogs may move on to the Advanced class when they understand and enjoy all of the Intermediate exercises & class goals.

Class Goals:
Proofing Contacts and maintaining your criteria
Weave Poles – Proofing entry/exit
Advanced Turns: Serps, Threadles
Advanced “Front” and “Rear” Crosses
Box Work
Obstacle Discrimination
Course Strategies and Analysis

Masters Agility:

Class consists of 1 hour a week for 6 weeks, $200-255

Taught by Laura Dolan, Andy Winther & Lo Baker Classes LIMITED to 5-6 students

This class is open to dog & handler teams that are showing at the Masters level & are looking to better their current show ring performances & times. Class focus will be on International handling techniques useful in USDAA, UKI & AKC Premier classes. This class will help you get Faster contacts, Faster Weaves, Tough Obstacle Discrimination, What move is faster. This class uses our ENTIRE  arena & may use electronic timers during class.  This class will run for 1 hour each week so everyone gets LOTS of floor time!
